Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood has impressed in La Liga and Getafe president Angel Torres confirmed the club wants to keep him in Spain.

Torres revealed that the Red Devils and his side have been in constant contact over the player's status as the club looks to sign him permanently in the summer. Greenwood joined the Spanish side after United decided to part ways with the player after charges of sexual assault and domestic violence were dropped.

The Getafe president said to the press: "We had a video conference a few days ago [with Manchester United]. Almost every month we talk to see how he is. The boy is super happy. Now he is there, in England. The family too. They know we are interested in him staying one more year and I think we are on the right track."

It had been reported earlier by British media that the Azulones may offer the Red Devils a sum of £40 million ($51m) to sign the forward. United could be enticed by the offer as they may look to sell the 22-year-old permanently despite his performances due to the possibility of a backlash from the fans.

The youngster is currently back in England as the Spanish league has entered its winter break, however, he could return to training soon as the club will be back in action when they take on Rayo Vallecano on January 2.
